Top 5 Live Appearances of "The Simpsons" Cast

By Nancy Basile, About.com

It's not very often you get to see the voices behind "The Simpsons" in real life. But there have been live appearances by the cast of "The Simpsons." Following are the best performances by the cast when they appeared in person.

1. Global Fanfest

In October of 2000, the cast and other "Simpsons" folks appeared in Los Angeles for a select group of fans who had won tickets to the event. Fans got to see and hear from the cast, up close and personal.

2. "The Simpsons" Live in the U.K.

Some fans were lucky enough to score tickets to sold-out shows in Edinburgh and in London to see the cast of "The Simpsons" perform an entire episode, live and in person. The show was part of a celebration of "The Simpsons" tenth anniversary.

3. U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colorado

The cast appearance at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival was also part of the tenth anniversary celebration. The cast performed a past episode. James L. Brooks, Matt Groening and Mike Scully also appeared.

4. Hollywood Walk of Fame

Matt Groening and the cast appeared for a momentous occasion in January, 2000. A star for Homer, Marge, Maggie, Bart and Lisa Simpson was placed in front of the Galaxy Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard to mark the show's tenth anniversary. Woo hoo!

5. "Inside the Actor's Studio"

The entire "Simpsons" cast joined James Lipton on stage for an episode of "Inside the Actor's Studio." They answered questions in person and in character. Much of the show, unfortunately, was spent watching clips from "The Simpsons," or indulging James Lipton by performing character voices. I would have like to have heard more about them as actors, but the show was still a treat for a die-hard fan like me.
