Guide Review - 'Tripping the Rift' Season 2 Review
So, to be fair, I decided to watch full episodes of the second season before writing another review. Did I see lewd and stupid humor when it was really edgy and funny? Had I missed something? The answer is resoundingly, "No!"
First, the animation is on par with bad video games. I know that computer animation is expensive, but if you're going to do it, do it right. The character movement is stilted and the pixel patterns are two-dimensional.
Next, the humor is so junior high-level it's boring. They're trying to comment on pop culture, racism and politics, but because the humor isn't smart and clever, like South Park, their comments get lost in the base one-liners.
And poor Carmen Electra is out of her element. She gives the dullest readings of the entire cast. She was brought in to replace Gina Gershon. Watching "Cool Whip" and "You Want to Put That Where" convinced me her assets are best used onscreen, where she can show them off, and distract the audience from her flat performances.
At least I was honest in my first review and let the reader know I couldn't stand to sit through more than five minutes. That should have spoken volumes about this show. Well, I gave it a second chance, and you can see those extra forty-four minutes changed nothing.
