Guide Review - "The Brak Show" Volume 1 DVD
What's funny about the show? It manages to find that sweet spot, where it's weird, but not so weird that it's completely random. And it is random, but not so much that it's not funny. Maybe see a "Brak" before you buy the DVD.
The DVDs are great. First of all, it has the first funny "in character" commentary I've ever heard. More funny are the creator commentaries. For instance, I always wondered why Brak's dad was so much smaller than the other characters. The answer is, they made a mistake on the computer, thought it was funny, and ran with it. There's a lot of outtakes from a pilot for a variety show called the "Brak Presents the Brak Show Starring Brak" that are very funny. I wish that there was a little more about how they determined that anyone would watch this show and who said, "This is a great idea." But, oh, well. The DVDs are still pretty nice.
