Here's my top picks list for games that don't require batteries. Play Uno, poker, Clue and other fun board games and card games from cartoons like "The Simpsons" and "South Park." So gather friends and family around the table, 1970's-style, and join in fun without beeps and slow-loading graphics.
1) "The Simpsons" Monopoly
Monopoly is one of my all-time favorite board games because luck can make or break you in this game. Plus, I love dealing with money. And since the game takes a long time to finish, it's usually good for a rainy afternoon. "The Simpsons" Monopoly is even more fun because places like Boardwalk and Marvin's Gardens are replaced with spots from Springfield. The six tokens show Homer as the monorail conductor, Kang, Bart, Blinky, Santa's Little Helper and Jebediah Springfield. You can order more.
2) "The Simpsons" Chess
Another classic board game gets a "Simpsons" treatment. Chess is definitely a game of strategy and can take up a lot of time, too. This chess set injects some humor into the gameplay by using characters from "The Simpsons" on the board. The plastic chess pieces are shapes of Bart as the pawn, Grampa as the castle, Maggie as the knight, Lisa as the bishop, Marge as the queen, and Homer as the king. Many collectors just display the game because it is so attractive.
3) "South Park" Chess Set
The gameplay of this set is, of course, the same as "The Simpsons" chess set, but I ranked the "South Park" chess set lower just because it's not as "classic" of a cartoon as "The Simpsons." The set includes poor Pawn Kenny, Rook Stan, Knight Cartman, Bishop Kyle, King Chef and Queen Big Gay Al. Too hilarious!
4) "South Park" Poker Set
Poker seems to be more popular than ever as a group activity. Liven up your weekly game with this fun poker set from "South Park." It includes everything you need to play 7-Card Stud, Texas Hold 'Em, 5-Card Draw and more, all inside a convenient tin storage box. The cards and chips feature "South Park" characters including Cartman, Kyle, Kenny, and Stan. You get 180 chips displaying "South Park" characters, 54 cards and a rule book.
5) "The Simpsons" Clue
Who killed Mr. Burns? The gameplay is the same as regular Clue, but the game has been changed to fit Springfield, and with pleasing results. The suspects are Marge as Mrs. Peacock, Homer as Mr. Green, Bart as Professor Plum, Lisa as Miss Scarlet, Krusty the Clown as Col. Mustard and, hilariously, Waylon Smithers as Mrs. White. The possible weapons are a slingshot, saxophone, poisoned donut, pearl necklace, Extend-O-Glove and plutonium rod. The locales are just as fun.
6) "SpongeBob SquarePants" Uno Set
Uno is a fun game, a kitsche game. This special edition features fun graphics of SpongeBob, Patrick, Sandy, Mr. Krabs and Squidward. There's also a "Secret Recipe" to add a twist to the conventional gameplay. This set comes in a lovely tin and includes 112 custom "SpongeBob" cards and instructions. The first person to reach 500 points wins.
7) "South Park" Uno Set
Again, the only reason the "SpongeBob" Uno was ranked higher than "South Park" is that "SpongeBob" is a bit more mainstream. Here the collector's tin is packed with cards featuring Cartman, Stan, Kenny, Kyle, Satan, Big Gay Al and more from "South Park." As a bonus, you get the exclusive Dead Kenny card. Play to find out!
8) "The Simpsons" Dominoes
Dominoes isn't really my game, but it may be yours. The reason I included this version is because not only is it fun because it features "Simpsons" characters, you don't have to be able to count! You must match up faces of Bart, Homer, Marge, Lisa, Krusty, Chief Wiggum and other folks from Springfield.
