Top 5 Xbox Games Based on Cartoons

By , About.com Guide

Become a character from "The Simpsons" or "SpongeBob SquarePants" in one of these top-rated Xbox games.

1. "The Simpsons" Hit and Run

"Hit and Run" is the best "Simpsons" video game so far. Obviously mimicing the spicy game "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City," "Hit and Run" provides fans of "The Simpsons" with gleeful freedom to drive or walk throughout Springfield, causing mayhem or winning missions. "Simpsons" references and jokes abound, as well as Springfield locations. For serious players and fans, the special collector's feature (for collecting trading cards throughout the game) is must-see.

2. "The Simpsons" Road Rage

This is a lesser video game of "The Simpsons," but not as bad as the earliest games. It provides lots of amusement in terms of characters, quotes and locales of Springfield. But the gameplay is easy and a lot like "Crazy Taxi." You can have fun earning money to unlock more automobiles and characters, but there's not much else for you in re-playing the game.

3. "SpongeBob SquarePants" Battle for Bikini Bottom

Here's a great game that replicates the broad reach its TV show has: Adults and kids can enjoy it. The silly antics and humor of the "SpongeBob Squarepants" show are evident. The gameplay is fun and straightforward. You'll enjoy using SpongeBob, Patrick or Sandy in gameplay. Don't get discouraged collecting all that stuff in the beginning of the game. The stuff will serve you well later on.

4. "Samurai Jack" The Shadow of Aku

The fun in this "Samurai Jack" is not in the difficult gameplay or complicated plot, but in the variety of fun weapons you can wield. As Jack, you must defeat Aku and return to your own time. The graphics of the game couldn't possibly live up to the cinematic splendor of the show. But they come close. You'll enjoy many levels and worlds with missions along the way, that eventually lead to the big win.

5. "Futurama"

Serious gamers won't find "Futurama" to be a lot of fun. But fans of the show will enjoy the environments and characters, without being distracted by difficult gameplay. The plot is difficult enough to provide some challenges, but not so difficult that beginners can't enjoy "Futurama" humor.
