Top 5 Game Boy Advance Games Based on Cartoons

By , About.com Guide

Here's my list of the best GBA games based on cartoons. If you love "SpongeBob SqarePants," "The Simpsons" or "Samurai Jack," you won't be disappointed.

1. "SpongeBob SquarePants" Revenge of the Flying Dutchman

"Revenge of the Flying Dutchman" is more tedious than the other "SpongeBob SquarePants" games. But it can be very rewarding to win the game. SpongeBob accidentally unleashes the ghost of the Flying Dutchman. As SpongeBob, you must complete various levels by collecting items, then being rewarded with tiles that spell "SpongeBob." Along the way you meet other characters, like Patrick and Mr. Krabs. The best part of the game is donning various costumes in order to obtain certain skills. Have fun!

2. "The Simpsons" Road Rage

This is a lesser video game of "The Simpsons," but not as bad as the earliest games. It provides lots of amusement in terms of characters, quotes and locales of Springfield. But the gameplay is easy and a lot like "Crazy Taxi." You can have fun earning money to unlock more automobiles and characters, but there's not much else for you in re-playing the game.

3. "SpongeBob SquarePants" Battle for Bikini Bottom

Here's a great game that replicates the broad reach its TV show has: Adults and kids can enjoy it. The silly antics and humor of the "SpongeBob Squarepants" show are evident. The gameplay is fun and straightforward. You'll enjoy using SpongeBob, Patrick or Sandy in gameplay. Don't get discouraged collecting all that stuff in the beginning of the game. The stuff will serve you well later on.

4. "The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie"

This game follows "The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie" fairly closely, with just a tweak here and there. You can play as SpongeBob, Patrick, Sandy or Mindy. Each character has his or her own abilities. It's a lot like "Battle for Bikini Bottom," but that isn't a bad thing. It's light-hearted and fun. Gamers searching for complicated plots or difficult tasks should look elsewhere. Fans will love this one.

5. "Samurai Jack" The Amulet of Time

The fun in this "Samurai Jack" is not in the difficult gameplay or complicated plot, but in the variety of fun weapons you can wield. As Jack, you must defeat Aku and return to your own time. The graphics of the game couldn't possibly live up to the cinematic splendor of the show. But they come close. You'll enjoy many levels and worlds with missions along the way, that eventually lead to the big win.
