Comedy Central

'Lil' Bush':

Lil' Bush premiered Wednesday, June 13, 2007 on Comedy Central. Originally, Lil' Bush was a mobile series for Amp'd, who provides services for Comedy Central. The show was popular enough online that Comedy Central gave it a greenlight for a TV series.

Premise:

Lil' Bush: Resident of the United States will follow the Lil' Gang (along with irascible dad George Sr., sweetly sinister Bar, and dumb as paint Jeb) as they get mixed up in all sorts of crazy adventures from taking a field trip to Iraq to just taking crank. We'll watch with wonder as they grow up into real deciders.

Characters:

Lil' Bush: Resident of the United States is an animated series featuring Lil' George and his Lil' White House posse including Lil' Condi, Lil' Rummy and the unintelligible, foulmouthed wisecracker, Lil' Cheney (my favorite). They're like the Lil' Rascals with access to the A-Bomb. Their enemies include Lil' Kim Jong Il and Lil' Saddam Hussein.

Creator:

Lil' Bush: Resident of the United States was created by Donick Cary. Donick Cary has been a writer for The Simpsons, Just Shoot Me and David Letterman. In a press release, Cary said, "Whether on a cell phone or TV, some stories just demand to be told. The Bush family has been incredibly generous with their time in helping me to bring these powerfully moving stories to broadcast." I like him already!

My Two Cents:

I have taken on some seriously unfriendly fire for my approval of Lil' Bush. Living in a somewhat Red State, it's hard for me to find folks to talk to about the faults of the George W. Bush administration. Lil' Bush helps me purge those opinions.

Perhaps Lil' Bush's parodies aren't metaphorical enough, poking too directly at the nation's wounds. In the meantime, every time Lil' Cheney makes some unintelligible growl, sounding like a duck, I'll laugh like crazy, whether it's on DVD or Comedy Central.
