Good Vibes premiered on MTV on October 27, 2011, after the return of
Beavis and Butt-head.
Good Vibes is more than boob jokes, though there are enough of those to fill a double-d cup. Mondo is a teenage boy whose mom moved them to California from New Jersey. In Playa Del Toro, a community much like Venice Beach, he meets his new best friend Woodie and falls in love with Jeena, the hot girl with morals.
Good Vibes is definitely meant for adults with its trashy humor, but still has a soft story that draws viewers into Mondo's world; you root for him right from the start.
Characters and Cast
The characters of Good Vibes are widely varied and fun, with new twists on old stereotypes.
Mondo (voiced by Josh Gad, The Book of Mormon) is a fat teenage boy who misses his home, but literally dives into his new life with gusto, trying his best to fit in.
Woodie (voiced by Adam Brody, The O.C.) is Mondo's new best friend, who helps him discover what Playa Del Toro has to offer, like nipples and surfing.
Babs (Debi Mazar, Entourage) is Mondo's smokin' hot mom, who hoped to get a job that didn't involve poles.
Lonnie (Alan Tudyk, Serenity) is a burnt-out but wise beach bum.
Ms. Teets (Danny McBride, Eastbound & Down) is Mondo's massively overweight and inappropriate human sexuality teacher.
Jeena (Olivia Thirlby, Bored to Death) is the beautiful girl of Mondo's dreams, who puts her political agenda before boys.
Turk (Jake Busey, Starship Troopers) is an obnoxious local surfer and bully.
Wadska (Tony Hale, Arrested Development) is a charmingly nerdy and delusional friend who needs meds to stay in school.

Woodie - Good Vibes
MTVNo wonder
Good Vibes is so funny with a stable of practiced writers to its credit. The cartoon was created by David Gordon Green (
Pineapple Express) and is animated by Six Point Harness. Along with Green, executive producers are Tom Brady (
The Simpsons), Tom Werner (
That 70's Show), Mike Clements (
The Life and Times of Tim) and Brad Ableson (
The Simpsons).
My Two Cents
Let me just say that I watched a screener for
Good Vibes a short time after I watched a screener for
Allen Gregory, which did nothing to improve my opinion about the latter cartoon.
Good Vibes has everything the other does not: likeable characters, relatable story, sight gags, punched-up dialogue, fast pacing and a fun animation style.
Good Vibes is paired with
Beavis and Butt-head on MTV's Thursday nights, but could easily anchor a different night of programming. I look forward to many more episodes of
Good Vibes.
