Every spring (winter, summer, fall) big networks have upfront presentations, where they pump up the press and investors with their upcoming slate of new and returning shows. For 2013, Cartoon Network has a new strategy of bringing the presentation to the client, called the Cartoon Network Road Tour.
In addition to new and returning cartoons, Cartoon Network announced that its successful and innovative shorts program will continue at Cartoon Network Studios, producing a new slate of original shorts in 2013 via its dedicated production unit. A few of the new series announced for this year were created from those animated shorts.
"Our unique approach to animation development has paid off in the form of many successful returning series, each with a giant fan base behind them," Rob Sorcher, chief content officer for Cartoon Network, said in a press release. "These new animated series forge diverse, new ground, and stem from our Cartoon Network Studios pipeline, which continues to cultivate the most talented minds working in TV animation today."
So, did a rep from Cartoon Network show up in my living room with this handsome cart to ply me with DVDs and yummy treats? No. But I did receive a spanking new press release, in digital form, to announce their plans for the coming year. Now, I share the news with you, gentle viewer.
