Phil Hartman is known to "The Simpsons" fans as the voice of Troy McClure and Lionel Hutz. To honor this great actor, who was killed in 1998, here is my list of his best performances in movies.
1. "Houseguest"
Phil Hartman is a great, stuck-up foil for Sinbad's crazy comedy in this family hit. Hartman is stuck with his unwelcome houseguest, but, of course, they become fast friends.
2. "Small Soldiers"
Hartman plays a loving and confused father so well in this fun part-live, part-animation film about action figures at war.3. "Sgt. Bilko"
Though the film was not received well by critics, it's a great display of Hartman's comic abilities. He workes well with comic great Steve Martin in this film about an Army man who finds loopholes in everything.4. "Jingle All the Way"
Hartman stars with Arnold Schwarzenegger, and again with Sinbad, in this holiday favorite. But in this movie, Phil Hartman gets to chew the scenery as the bad guy.5. "Greedy"
This film is highly underrated. It boasts a fantastic cast, including Phil Hartman, Michael J. Fox and Kirk Douglas. The film is about an aging man's family's attempt to secure their wealth through inheritance. Hartman plays a conniving relative who performs with his usual wit and sarcasm.6. "So I Married an Axe Murderer"
Though his part in this movie is very short, Phil Hartman uses the time wisely. He has the right smugness of most tour guides when he leads the crowd through Alcatraz.
