Homer Simpson's "Mmm, Cheese" Burgers

By Nancy Basile, About.com

This Homer Simpson recipe includes time for TV and beer breaks. Thanks to Blake Cantrell of Hawaii for this recipe.

Ingredients:

  • Lean ground beef
  • Duff beer
  • Garlic
  • Cheddar Cheese
  • Monterey Jack Cheese

Preparation:

Begin the recipe by purchasing high quality lean ground beef and at least a 12 pack of Duff beer.

Then add a pinch of garlic salt across the top of the ground round before forming the patties.

Then take a little break for some TV watching in your underwear and a beer or 2 or 10. Remember, you've been working hard already and it is the process that is important, not the result.

After a short nap on the couch proceed outside to light up your BBQ.

Arrange the coals in a very elaborate pyramid scheme and then add lighter fluid if needed, which any man will tell you, it always is, and lots of it.

After having gotten the fire started you have a while to wait until you will be able to cook your patties so go grab some more beer.

After about 4 more beers you shoud be able to throw on the patties and gets-a-cookin'.

Drop the patties on the grill and check regularly so that they don't burn, flip when necessary. DO NOT SIT DOWN OR LAY DOWN IN ANY LAWN FURNITURE AS YOU WILL UNDOUBTEDLY PASS OUT FROM THE HEAT OF THE SUMMER DAY AND THE NUMEROUS BEERS CONSUMED!

When the patties look almost done simply lay a few slices of cheddar and monterey jack cheese across each one until melted. Serve in your favorite bun, bread or just as they are, simple yet perfect, just like Homer Simpson.
