Guide Review - Giant Chicken and Peter Griffin Action Figures

The Giant Chicken and Peter Griffin two pack of action figures from "Family Guy" look more like variant characters than a regular release of figures.

These action figures are from "Da Boom" episode of "Family Guy." In that episode, Peter Griffin encounters a man dressed in a chicken costume who warns him of the impending Y2K apocalypse. There's a flashback to Peter fighting with a chicken about an expiration date on a coupon. (We also see the chicken in 2005's episode "Blind Ambition.") Later, Peter forces his family into a bomb shelter, thus saving them from the disaster.

First off, Mezco Toyz gets big points for using an unusual base to display the figures. It gives you the mid-fight feel of the episode, and adds to the hilarity of the scene. The figures do have articulation, so you can vary the fight pose somewhat.

Unfortunately, the unique base also limits what you can do with the figures. The same goes for the limited articulation.

I do like the detail on the figures. The black eyes and scuff marks go a long way toward making these figures must-owns.

It's too bad, though, that some accessories weren't included. A great accessory could have been Twinkies, the food that survives the catastrophe, and thus saves the Griffin family.

Overall, this is a fun set and any fan would love to have it.
