Bart makes a trip to the doctor's office finds out he needs new glasses, salve for his scalp, and orthopedic shoes. He leaves looking like a nerd. At the plant, Mr. Burns hires a female employee named Mindy Simmons. Homer is immediately infatuated with her, as she is exactly like him, only beautiful.
Homer calls a marriage hotline, but Ned Flanders is the one who answers. In his attempt to get away, Homer knocks the phone booth to the ground and loses consciousness. His guardian angel appears in the form of Colonel Klink from Hogan's Heroes. Colonel Klink shows Homer what his life would have been like married to Mindy instead of Marge. After showing Homer his mansion and Marge in the White House, Colonel Klink announces, "This dream is over."
Later, Mr. Burns assigns Homer and Mindy as representatives of the power plant at the National Energy Convention in Capital City. Back at school, Bart sheds his glasses salve and shoes after two weeks. He announces to the bullies that he is not a nerd, but gets beat up anyway.
Homer enjoys his time with Mindy, even though he tries not to. They order room service, insult passersby and eat a romantic dinner for two at Madame Chao's. After dinner, they return to Homer's hotel room. Instead of giving in to temptation, Homer invites Marge to spend the night with him at the hotel. They enjoy a tender evening with turkey.

Mindy: Well, desserts aren't always right.
Homer: But they're so sweet.
