lardlass: I go to garage sales and flea markets all the time. I don't see any "Simpsons" stuff. Do you still go?
Bill: Not too much anymore. There was quite a bit still five or six years ago. But it's pretty much dried up since. However, I think we'll begin seeing more in the next year or two as a lot of retail stuff now in stores migrates to the secondary markets.
EdnaK: Is everyone here a collector?
Nancy: Meaning, people will want to get rid of their "Simpsons" stuff? Hard to believe.
EdnaK: Bill, do you ever sell anything on ebay?
Bill: The sign of a die-hard collector is never selling anything unless you got more than one.
Nancy: LOL
Bill: I sell often on ebay, especially my book. But I must admit I've bought a lot more than I've sold.
ottoman1959: Bill...great interview, by the way. I'm curious as to where Wave 2 ends and Wave 3 begins (on the figurines and environments)...
Bill: Wave 3, according to the latest "Simpsons" Comics, is supposed to start late this month or early January.
AnimationGuide: Bart was mooning the Australian parliament last week on TV. Are there any collectables of Bart doing this naughty act?
Nancy: lol
Bill: There is a mooning nodder Bart figure. I think you can find it at Sunway still.
EdnaK: Cool!
AnimationGuide: I have a little animated GIF of this situation that is so good it seems authentic...
Nancy: What does your wife think of all this "Simpsons" stuff around the house?
lardlass: I think I've seen it. He's shakin' his tail feathers, right?
AnimationGuide: exactly and looking back over his shoulder
Bill: My wife is Ok with it Actually, she got interested in "Simpsons" merchandise before I did.
Nancy: Really? You're a lucky man. Sometimes when one spouse collects, it drives the other one crazy.
AnimationGuide: Not really a collectable question but does anyone know who invented the expression "d'oh" for Homer? ericwirtanen: Great pictures of the upcoming figure lines from ToyFare at http://www.fandom.com/simpsons/, BTW
Bill: Apparently, it was "annoyed grunt" in the original scripts, and it was Dan C., the voice of Homer, who came up with the sound.
Nancy: Thanks, eric!
AnimationGuide: Hit thte surf button to go there... I wondered if it was invented by the actor...
Nancy: For any collectors interested, we have trivia chats here, and every month we give away a prize. December's prize is a Chief Wiggum pin. He's drinking coffee and eating a donut. I love it. Bill, tell the folks where to find your book and your web site.
Kinger: Bill hello??
Bill: A great deal on the book now is at half.com, where you can find it at half price. Shipping is free at the moment for people placing their first order.
Kinger: Mr.LaRue
Bill: Hi, Kinger
Kinger: did you know that www.milpool.com has a link to May 2001's "Simpsons" figures
Nancy: Hi, Kinger!
Bill: I do now. Thanks.
Kinger: hello
ericwirtanen: Yeah, the Fandom site posted the pics.
Nancy: That's a fantastic deal, Bill. I might have to get some for Christmas....
Kinger: Eric!
Nancy: Anyone else want to plug anything? AnimationGuide?
AnimationGuide: Tomorrow night we chat at my site about all things animated...
EdnaK: Nothin' here. Just glad to be chatting. Thanks for all the good info!
AnimationGuide: 9 eastern time
Nancy: So that means you *won't* be chatting about a rod of plutonium.
ottoman1959: The fandom site is great!
AnimationGuide: unlikely, although "The Simpsons" do come up from time to time...
Nancy: The Fandom site is great. Lots of news there all the time.
AnimationGuide: Who thinks they have the most valuable collectible here in the chat room?
Nancy: Bill, thanks again for stopping by to answer all of our questions. To everyone else, a transcript of this chat will be posted in the next couple of days. I bet it's Bill.
Kinger: Alright whats everyones favorite episode?
Bill: Thanks! I had a ball.
lardlass: I only have about 12 things.
AnimationGuide: well besides Bill of course
EdnaK: I'm aspiring!
Nancy: I'm heading out, but please feel free to stay and chat as long as you like. Thanks to everyone for stopping by!
