Guide Review - "The Simpsons" The Complete Seventh Season DVD

"The Simpsons" Complete Seventh Season DVD Collection is spectacular. 'Nough said. No? Okay, here we go.

I did not receive my DVD screener packaged inside Marge's head, but even the regular set is packaged well. The entire DVD collection features packaging and menus depicting characters from "The Simpsons" seventh season attending a movie premiere. (Good omen for a "Simpsons" feature film?) You get original animated menus, not re-hashed clips from what you're about to watch.

The commentary is like listening to old friends sit around chatting. Everyone has a good time reminiscing and giving away details as where how jokes originated, or which guest stars were fun to work with.

The deleted scenes are great to watch. Many scenes are deleted only because of time constraints. That means they're really funny, and new to you! There are a few, though, that didn't make the cut because they weren't very funny. These are few and far between.

Listening to the animators talk about working on the show is very interesting. I especially liked hearing about how difficult it was to create 3D animation for "Treehouse of Horror VI" back in 1995.

This season also includes some of my very favorite episodes, including "Radioactive Man," "Bart Sells His Soul," "King-Size Homer," "Marge Be Not Proud," "Homer the Smithers" and "A Fish Called Selma."

Though I would love to see the actors at work, at least we get to hear from them on select episodes.

This is a superb DVD set.
