The Bottom Line

So Comedy Central green-lit another season of this special helmet-wearing, short bus-riding "mutha" of a cartoon called Drawn Together. And I mean that in a really nice way. I do. This crass and potty-mouthed series is back, with all eight houseguests showing what happens when animated guests don’t get a bong. Much like a nudie mag in the bathroom, if you're reading this, you know what you're getting yourself into.

Guide Review - Drawn Together - The Complete Second Season

One can argue there is a fine line between satirical humor and what's in good taste. Drawn Together never saw the line and just kept on going.

Season 2 of Drawn Together reads a lot like first season leftovers at first sight. But I actually like watching Drawn Together and it's not all bad. I thought quite a few of the fifteen episodes were decent.

One of the funnier episodes is "Clum Babies." In this episode we find Wooldoor hitting puberty, and the products of his exploration have unexpected side effects. The Veggie Tales make a surprise visit to help the story.

Another stand out is "Foxxy vs. the Board of Education." In this episode, there's a great riff on the School House Rock series, where we learn that menthol and grape flavoring are a natural delight. Ya dig?

I thought the episode "Super Nanny" brought the chuckles big time. Captain Hero's having a bad day, and the only person that can punish him is Super Nanny and her naughty chair. I like the sound of that don't you? And as a secondary story we see Ling Ling trying to get his license, which reveals the difficulty of being Asian in America.

I really believe the voice talent is what gives this cartoon the ability to pull the sight gags off and make it funny. I just wish the DVD extras hadn't left me feeling empty. Comedy Central needs to start amping up bonus features on their DVD releases.
