Clones and Other Characters

The relationships on The Clone Wars are what draws me to the cartoon. After two seasons, the characters have had time to bond and flourish together. Catherine Taber says she enjoys the relationship between Obi Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker saying, "Their relationship has grown into it's own as the series has gone on." She also enjoys the comraderie between Anakin and Ahsoka.

Of course, the Clones are some of her favorite characters. Because her father was in the military, Catherine says she has, "such a love for soldiers." She's able to use those feelings when playing Padmé. "Padmé is trying to further diplomacy, but she really has a feel for the Clones. She has a sadness for those who are lost in battle."

Season 3 Hints

In the upcoming third season, Padmé and Ahsoka spend more time together; Catherine said she likes to see how each of Ahsoka's teachers takes a different approach. Also in the upcoming season, Catherine Taber says the "lines between who's good and who's evil begin to blur." The season premiere on Friday, September 17, at 9:00 p.m. ET is very Clone-centric. "It has everything you could want in an episode," she says. "I laughed, I cried!"

How Will It End?

I asked Catherine how Lucas and Filoni will pace the overall arc, because The Clone Wars has a dilemma when it comes to telling its full story; every knowledgeable fan knows how the Clone Wars end, as well as what happens to Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala. Like Lost, another TV show that had an end in sight, The Clone Wars has to find a balance between progressing the overall story while keeping the inevitable plot twist far enough into the future that the story doesn't end too soon.

Catherine Taber has no idea how it will all go down. She said the actors are kept in the dark, which suits her just fine. That way she can play the moment. She does admit that the stories are getting darker. She also confesses, "I'm in denial about the end."

Of course, none of us knows what will happen to Padiwan Ahsoka Tano. Hopefully, Star Wars: The Clone Wars will enjoy many seasons before we do.
