Frisky Dingo:
Killface is the most evil villain of all time, and he's determined to destroy the Earth by propelling it into the sun. But when you're running a business, even if your goal is to destroy the planet, there are a lot of boring details -- media buys, budgets and marketing. Doing everything he can to stop him (or at least keeping up appearances) is Awesome X, the alter ego of billionaire Xander Crews. But Xander has some ambivalence about stopping Killface; doing so will cut into his toy sales.
Killface:
The bad guy on Frisky Dingo, though he remembers to send a gift card to his Phil's wife, who just had a baby. Killface is 7 feet tall and 340 pounds of thick white, sinewy muscle. Think Iceman but with talons for toenails, glowing red eyes and a British accent. A diabolical genius whose goal is nothing short of the complete and total destruction of Earth.
Xander Crews:
The good guy on Frisky Dingo, though spoiled and immature. He's a billionaire playboy whose parents were killed when he was young. (Bruce Wayne, anyone?) He pays little attention to his business or his girlfriend, Grace Ryan, and only wants to continue to fight villains as Awesome X. But he's running out of foes because he keeps defeating them. His action figure business is losing money, so he's looking for a new villain to fight.
Sinn:
Killface's stunning henchwoman. Sinn also speaks with an accent. She wears a barely-there costume, like most video game or comic book gals. She has a robot arm because Killface ripped off her real one for no good reason.
Simon:
Killface's spoiled, lazy son. He looks like a smaller version of his father. He usually sports his private school uniform of a sweater vest and tie. Rarely can you understand what he's saying, but you can tell the gist of it is mutinous. He likes hip hop and snacks.
Phil:
One of Killface's engineers working on the Annihilatrix, the machine that will propel Earth into the sun. Killface found Phil through Monster.com. Phil's wife just had a baby, and Phil is unhappy she's not thin yet.
Val:
The poor girl Killface kidnapped, along with twins Trent and Brent (who look a lot like Bryan Singer). Val winds up in charge of marketing Killface's evil plot after Killface kills the twins, with guts spilling out and everything. Killface makes her dress like a Geisha.
Stan:
Stan runs Xander's empire, Crews Interglobal, and plays the voice of reason (much like Batman's Alfred). He's frequently appalled by Xander's directives, though he faithfully caters to his every need.
Other Characters:
Grace Ryan
Xander Crews' girlfriend. She's a reporter for the local news, Force 10. She's not fond of Awesome X, even though she dates his alter ego.
Whatley
A mild-mannered accountant for Crews Interglobal. He had crab claws fused with his DNA in an effort to give Awesome X a much-needed villain to fight.
Taqu'il
The world's most famous rapper. So famous that every other rapper decided to quit the business. He's a merchandising empire unto himself, with lunchboxes, cereal, condoms and more.
Creators:
Adam Reed and Matt Thompson created
Frisky Dingo. The pair are most well-known for their other Adult Swim cartoon,
Sealab 2021.
Reed and Thompson started as production assistants at Cartoon Network in Atlanta. Among their early career triumphs were working with Carrot Top and making interstitials starring their own talking hands. When given the unenviable task of organizing the vast Cartoon Network library of tapes, the used the opportunity to find a diamond in the rough that they could re-dub. After days of sorting, they came upon Sealab 2020, a show that is a piece of crap.
The pilot they created was an unedited episode of Sealab 2020 with new audio dubbed over the lip-flaps of the characters. They presented the pilot to Mike Lazzo, then in charge of programming at Cartoon Network, who rejected it.
Reed and Thompson moved to New York City in 1996 where they started their own company, 70-30 Productions, and worked on behind-the-scenes shows for Showtime. There they learned the skills necessary to make a worthy pilot for Sealab 2021.
Four years after presenting the original pilot, they presented the new and improved Sealab 2021 to Lazzo. Coincidentally, Lazzo was looking for adult-skewed cartoons for the new late-night TV service, Adult Swim. The show was picked up and became a flagship cartoon for Adult Swim, embodying the block's absurdity and irreverance.
After Sealab 2021 finished its successful run, the two pitched Frisky Dingo to Adult Swim. Time will tell if Frisky Dingo will be as successful as their previous series.
