'Assy McGee':
Assy McGee premiered on November 26, 2006 on Adult Swim. The comedy found a small but loyal following in only six episodes for the first season.Premise:
Assy McGee is an homage to every buddy cop movie you've seen. Assy is a hardboiled detective, willing to shoot anyone to get his man, which he always does. He's had to turn in his badge more than once, but always gets it back. And if you didn't happen to see the picture at right, take a look: He's literally an ass. You can expect the usual gruff and macho fights between Assy and his partner, his chief, and sometimes even the mayor.Characters:
Joining Assy and Sanchez is his obligatory partner, Det. Don Sanchez, who is a family man. Sanchez has been shot in the line of duty many times, always by Assy. Leading the department is The Chief, whose temper is quick and fierece. The Chief is worried about protecting The Mayor, who is worried about being re-elected. The two of them try to rein in Assy on a regular basis.Creators:
Executive Producer and co-creator Matt Harrigan has written, produced and performed voices for numerous cable and broadcast shows including Space Ghost Coast to Coast and Celebrity Deathmatch. Carl Adams is executive producer and co-creator of Assy McGee. Carl began his career as an editor, story writer and director on Dr. Katz: Professional Therapist. He has also worked on Home Movies and O'Grady. My Two Cents:
I like Assy McGee. Even though the lead character is missing the top half of his body, the premise, story structure and style is familiary and comfortable, especially for an Adult Swim cartoon.Assy McGee spends money and time on the paint of the characters and backgrounds, and not as much on the actual animation, which gives it a rich, lovely look with abrupt movement. I don't mind. Me like pretty pictures!
Assy McGee is the perfect show for male, young and old, because flatulence plays a large part in the show. Assy eats, talks and wields his gun with his butt. What more could any male want to watch?
