Best Female Cartoon Characters Voiced by Men

Believe it or not, several female cartoon characters on TV are voiced by men. Men can easily give female characters an alto tone. Sometimes men are used to voice women for comic effect, while other times the lower voice is meant to be monstrous or old.

Tina on 'Bob's Burgers'

Character: Tina Belcher on Bob's Burgers may not be the most popular girl at Wagstaff School, but she's an integral student, working for the school's news channel and safety patrol. She's obsessed with boys, zombies and horses, and maybe even a combination of those things. She's got a wicked crush for Jimmy Jr. (as in Pesto).

Voice: Dan Mintz is the hilarious actor behind the voice of Tina. His monotone, deadpan delivery is one of the reasons Tina is so funny. He makes talking about boys' butts as exciting as talking about the burger of the day. Dan Mintz is a comedian. In 2011, he received an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Special for Night of Too Many Stars on Comedy Central. He wrote and performed on , and has also written for other TV comedy shows.

Linda on 'Bob's Burgers'

Character: Linda Belcher on Bob's Burgers is a cock-eyed optimist and incurable romantic. She frequently belts out show tunes, even ones she makes up herself. She's proud of her children, but sometimes she wants the spotlight for herself. She's worked to mend fences between Bob and his father, her sister and her boyfriend, and her parents and the swinging community where they lived.

Voice: John Roberts is the funny comedian behind the voice of Linda. He uses his higher range to full effect when he's singing or sighing. He came to fame as a YouTube star with his viral video, “The Christmas Tree,” which was nominated for a broadband Emmy Award and was featured on Best Week Ever. The follow-up video, “Jackie & Debra,” won The Comedy Smalls Award in London. He has also appeared on  and Watch What Happens Live.

Lumpy Space Princess on 'Adventure Time'

Character: "Oh my glob!" Adventure Time's Lumpy Space Princess has her own catchphrase. She tends to talk like a spoiled Valley Girl, but when you break her down, she's an insecure princess at heart. She's had crushes on Finn, Brad and Ugly Johnny, but in the end, her heart is her own. She lives in a sorta lame house in the woods and occasionally fights zombies. Oh, and she's a terrible babysitter.

Voice: "LSP Bubs" is voiced by Adventure Time creator Pendleton Ward. Prior to Adventure Time, he had very little experience as a voice-over artist, having only done a few guest star roles, including one on The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, where he was also a writer. His adenoidal delivery for Lumpy Space Princess really adds flair to her put downs.

Ms. Choksondik on 'South Park'

Character: Ms. Choksondik on  had a short life, but a meaningful one. She taught fourth grade at South Park Elementary, where she kept a strict classroom and warned the girls about the dangers of sex. She had a bit of a lazy eye and a shirt that was just a tad too short. Mr. Mackey, her on-again, off-again boyfriend, grieved after her death.

Voice: Trey Parker, the co-creator of South Park, provided the voice for Ms. Choksondik. He also does the voice of Stan, Cartman, Mr. Garrison and Timmy.

Connie on 'Brickleberry'

Character: Connie on Brickleberry is one of the park's best rangers. While the others try to guess at her preferences, she claims to have a past with President Obama. We've seen her in evening wear during a play and a coconut-shell bikini.

Voice: Brickleberry co-creator Roger Black gives Connie her throaty voice that makes everyone wonder which way she leans. He and Waco O'Guin previously worked on Stankervision.
