No, not that quiet time at the public pool when the seniors take to the water in their skull caps, and leave glowering, sticky children behind. I'm talking about the block of cartoons shown late at night on Cartoon Network.
Adult Swim starts at 10:00 p.m. or 11:00 p.m. and lasts until 1:00 a.m. The cartoons are also aired Sunday night at the same time. I highly recommend watching this cartoon cache. Why? The shows are clever, the animation is fun and edgy and the subjects are provocative. Adult Swim started with just a few shows, some original, and some cobbled from old cartoons. Here's a sample of what you can find.

The Brak Show
Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law
Space Ghost: Coast to Coast Other shows that air in this time block are Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Sealab 2021 and Robot Chicken. Even the promotional clips that separate the shows from the commercials (called bumpers) follow the Adult Swim theme, beginning with shots of senior citizens doing the backstroke, and the announcer's voice coming from a p.a. system, to now using minimal animation and funky music. All in all, you'll love Adult Swim if you love tongue-in-cheek humor, irony and wit. By dawn, you and Brak will be saying, "Yeah, bud-dy." Suggested Reading |
