How To Run a Successful Pretzel Franchise

By Nancy Basile, About.com

Marge Simpson knew how to work the pretzel wagon.  Learn from her success to start your own franchise.
Difficulty: Average
Time Required: Days

Here's How:

  1. Contact a local franchise owner.  You might find one at the local Fleet-a-Pita convention.
  2. Pay $500 to enter the dynamic world of mobile pretzel retailing.
  3. Establish your territory wherever people are hungry.
  4. Watch the Pretzel Wagon video cassette by Frank Ormand.
  5. Set up your office in your basement or garage.  A 'Hang in there, baby!' poster with a cute kitten provides motivation.
  6. Blanket your community with flyers.  A phony ticker-tape parade will help you avoid littering laws.
  7. Open your bag of ingredients.  Be sure to check for millipedes.
  8. Mix and bake your pretzels.
  9. Drive your wagon to populated areas to sell your pretzels.  Try to avoid areas where the Fleet-a-Pita van is parked.
  10. When printing coupons, be sure the disclaimer 'Limit One Per Customer' is clearly displayed.
  11. When business is failing, contact a local mob boss for assistance.

Tips:

  1. Don't forget fat people.  They can't stop eating!
