'Star Wars' and 'The Simpsons'

Or should I say Bart Wars?

Fat Tony, Homer Simpson and Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker

Twentieth Century Fox
George Lucas may have broken box office records. But on The Simpsons, Star Wars has been an influence since long ago, in a galaxy far, far away.

In "I Married Marge," Homer tells Marge she is "as pretty as Princess Leia and as smart as Yoda."

"Mayored to the Mob" guest starred Mark Hamill as Luke singing "Luke, Be a Jedi Tonight."

In "C. E. D'oh!" Homer uses Plutonium rods like a lightsaber to destroy obstacles, while Lenny and Carl fight over which sucked more, Phantom Menace or Attach of the Clones.

Yoda appears as a minister in "Treehouse of Horror XII."

In "Hungry, Hungry Homer" Duffman looks back and forth between Homer and Henry K. Duff VIII before throwing Duff over the fence, just like Darth Vader decides to destroy the Emperor rather than his son, Luke.

"Treehouse of Horror X," which features Comic Book Guy as The Collector, has more than one reference. He asks Lucy Lawless (Xena) to call him Obi-Wan and uses Darth Maul's lightsaber.

We see a sign for coffeehouse Java the Hut in "The Last Temptation of Krust."

My favorite reference from all seasons is in "Marge vs. the Monorail" when Mayor Quimby turns to Leonard Nimoy and says, "May the force be with you."
