The Happy Elf is the perfect mediocre title for this perfectly mediocre cartoon special. Essentially, The Happy Elf is a celebrity-packed attempt to cash in on holiday cartoon business. In 2005, NBC aired this CGI animated Christmas cartoon, no doubt hoping for an instant classic, but winding up with a soon forgotten 'toon. The Happy Elf is narrated by smooth talker Harry Connick, Jr., and stars Lewis Black, Carol Kane and Rob Paulsen. Lewis Black? Doesn't he just epitomize the warm and fuzzy feeling of the holidays? As the story goes, Eubie the Elf is always happy, until the town of Bluesville threatens to bring down his optimism. Coming from a top-notch animation company like Film Roman, you would think the writers could come up with something better than The Happy Elf. Regardless, it airs tonight on The CW at 8:00 p.m. ET.
