Cartoon Network announced it will premiere 22 all-new episodes for season 3 of the CG-animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The special, 1 hour season 3 premiere event of Star Wars: The Clone Wars airs Friday, September 17, at 9:00 p.m. ET. Cartoon Network promises that secrets will be revealed, which I can only hope means more about Anakin's destiny.
Some old school Star Wars fans have told me they don't enjoy this cartoon. They complain that it doesn't capture the old magic. Well, I think differently. I think The Clone Wars does a bang-up job of combining Episode IV feeling with modern film-making conventions. The characters are quick, smart and funny. The action is plentiful. And the phenomenon of being a clone really adds to some of the storylines. Plus, in a cartoon that airs weekly, the Lucas team has time to flesh out characters that we didn't get to know terribly well in the feature films, like my current crush General Plo Koon. In a month, I'll be on the couch waiting to see how the finale pans out. (No spoilers!) Or at least, my TiVo will be.
