Ouch! Get that machete away! While I still have my arms, let me say that Stewie, Peter, Meatwad and Masta Shake just haven’t been around long enough to be considered “classic”. Talk to me in another 10 or so years.
Interesting list, to say the least. I dont necessarily agree with the way some of then are ranked(Donald Duck is certainly one of the 20 greatest cartoon characters of all time), and I would add a couple. How about Cecil the Seasick Sea Serpent from Beany and Cecil? And Huckleberry Hound has to be more popular than some of characters on the list(Josie and the Pussycats?, Bob from Schoolhouse Rock? Or even Daria?)And Im wondering how long does a character have to be popular? Why is Eric Cartman on here and not Stewie Griffin? It seems to me Family Guys been around as long as South Park. And how about Bender from Futurama, same argument? I think if you have a certain cut-off date it should apply to everyone.

I agree with the list. You did well to keep stewie off. I don’t believe he can be compared to any off the other characters on the list.

I think Rick has some penis issues and a short memory… I agree with the guy who said the cutoff time should be the same for all; although South Park has been on longer than Family Guy… in any case, this is all about CLASSIC cartoon characters, so you gotta give a little more time for Family Guy and Futurama… I would have added Yosemite Sam over Top Cat and some of the others, same for Foghorn Leghorn and some of the other Warner cartoons… but hey, it’s a list, not a bible.. although would the Devil count as a cartoon character?
