Get Closed Captions Required Online

Sunday July 12, 2009
Do you ever watch episodes of your favorite TV shows online? A new bill in Congress, the 21st Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act of 2009, seeks to make it mandatory for channels like Nickelodeon and others to provide closed caption online. The goal of the bill is to make the Internet more accessible to the hearing impaired. If you would like to get involved in the cause, Jamie Berke, our About.com guide to deafness, is leading a grassroots effort to get the bill passed.

Adult Swim Announces Robot Chicken Roller Skating Tour

Wednesday July 8, 2009
Robot Chicken Roller Skating TourPut on your kneepads and oil your skates. Adult Swim and Robot Chicken creators and executive producers Seth Green and Matt Senreich are celebrating the release of the Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II DVD this summer by strapping on a pair of roller skates and living on a tour bus for two weeks. Green and Senreich host the celebration throughout the nine-city roller rink tour across America, kicking off August 1. It's free! Though they say all ages are welcome, just the fact that they use the word "ass" right on the first page of the tour web site means my kids will be staying home. See dates and venues at AdultSwimPresents.com. Compare prices for Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II DVD, to be released July 21.

Emmy Nominations: July 16

Sunday July 5, 2009
The nominations for Emmy Awards will be July 16. I hope that King of the Hill gets a nod, not only for the snappy year the show just finished, but also as the final farewell it deserves. Stay tuned to see which shows, and which episodes, are nominated for animated TV. In the meantime, leave a comment telling me which show you think deserves a nomination.
